The Tourism Professionals Association (TPA) is a membership organization registered as a society in Kenya. The TPA brings together hospitality and tourism professionals in Kenya to promote professional development, industry practice standards, and stakeholder engagement. Tourism and hospitality professionals are the backbone of the tourism and hospitality industry.
The purpose of this assignment is to publicize the drafting the Tourism and Hospitality Professionals Bill, 2024. The Bill will among others seek to regulate the industry practice for tourism and hospitality professionals in Kenya as well as promote the recognition and development of the profession.
The Media Consultant will coordinate engagement with broadcast, print, and online media to amplify the key messages of the finance bill on tourism to ensure they reach decision-makers and other major stakeholders. S/he will also work to secure top-tier g media coverage of the report supplemented by quality regional coverage.

Top-tier media coverage of the bill, supplemented by quality regional coverage in all media channels and platforms.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of TPA board and committees and in close consultation with the drafting consultant, he/she will perform the following duties:

Liaise internally and externally, as directed, to identify newsworthy and regional angles and research/draft news releases, including securing its necessary approvals;

Advise on key materials to be included in the bill for the media pack and review/edit the final media pack as may be required;

Proactively pitch the report to target media, including the creation and distribution of a “primer” to pique media and other stakeholders' interest in the report.

Arrange at least two or three live coverage and interview for Television and Radio stations.

Tracking of published news related to the bill

Organizing press conferences

Media Relations: – Compile media lists, set up briefings for campaign partners and/or spokespersons with key reporters and writers,

Coordinate interview scheduling, including liaising with spokespeople on their availability, languages spoken, etc. and preparing an interview management/coordination spreadsheet ;

Assist with spokespeople preparation/management and moderation of interviews Support management of virtual news conference on launch day and regional press briefings as may be required.

Gather and measure coverage using media monitoring services.

Manage follow-up interviews and public inquiries.

Perform other project-related tasks as may be needed
